Digital artists in residence – love+bytes and drag+drop (current)

The Schlachthaus Theater Bern, the Schools of Education and Academy of Art and Design Basel of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Northwestern Switzerland have jointly launched a new international digital residency program.

Convinced that we need visions, imaginations and fictions to tackle burning social issues, the initiating team (Maria Spanring, Ute Sengebusch, Dorothée King and Georges Pfruender) has created a program/platform for artists from all over the world whose art works focus on societal questions in context of the digital. The program offers various dialogue and resonance spaces for artists to interact with a broad range of participants from Switzerland (including lecturers, students, theatre audiences, etc).

The artists spend three digital months exchanging ideas with a variety of actors in Switzerland, sharing ideas and testing possibilities towards future productions. The digital serves as format, vector and testing site for ideas of actions/performances to be realized in hybrid-analogue spaces. The co-initiating institutions (Schlachthaus Theater Bern, School of the Arts FHNW, School of Education FHNW) would like to provide potential contexts/audiences as well as spaces for performances, learning and reflection in different institutional contexts.

The residency cycles are organized in a yearly rhythm.
