Projects

The projects presented here were developed in dialogue with the Wits Centre for Diversity Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand/Johannesburg. The resulting projects refer to the theoretical foundation of Critical Diversity Literacy, an analytical lens for the problematisation of social and cultural power relations, attributions and normative settings towards “others” as well as the associated processes of inclusion and exclusion. At the same time, this opens up new forms of articulation and options for action in dealing with phenomena of social and cultural diversity.
Basic project: Critical Diversity Literacy arts & further education (CDL)
In autumn 2016, we – Melissa Steyn, the team of the Wits Centre for Diversity Studies, Ulla Klingovsky and Georges Pfründer – outlined the basic parameters of the project constellation “Critical Diversity Literacy through Arts & Further Education”. The joint criticism of an unproblematised approach to “intercultural dialogue” and “intercultural competencies” was the starting point for a multi-perspective reflection on the (im)possibilities of transcultural encounters.
