Digital Salon: Bildung. Macht. Diversität (2023)

In partnership with: Leipzig University, Coordination Office for Equal Opportunities (KCS)

In October 2023, a digital salon was organised by the Coordination Office for Equal Opportunities (KCS) at Leipzig University as part of a conference on diversity issues. The co-authors of the publication Bildung. Macht. Diversity were invited to organise an exchange with participants from the university driven by the following questions:

  • What approaches does Critical Diversity Literacy offer us in dealing with diversity concepts?
  • How can universities be agents in the context of diversity?
  • what subversive tactics and strategies can we use to critically reflect and come into interaction with these socially (de)formative institutions?

Structure of the salon

  • Short check-in
  • Co-creative introduction with the help of text excerpts from the publication: In a chorally designed situation, an environment of voice resonances was generated with participants on topics of diversity. This playful dialogue served as entry point to further content-related discussions (moderation: Ulla Klingovsky).
  • Dialogue Melissa Steyn and Serena Dankwa regarding historic contexts and principles of Critical Diversity Literacy, moderated by Georges Pfruender
  • Impulse Karolin Heckemeyer: Reflections on the topic “Who is considered un_sporty and in_competent”. A further reflection round addressed a variety of situations in teaching-learning contexts.
  • Findings from the workshop: Exchange in co-leadership Sophia Weisser/Diana Hildebrand/Ulla Klingovsky
